This week's walk: Padley Gorge, the last-of-summer one
The school holidays wind down this week, and there's no better send-off than Padley Gorge — an easy 6 km through ancient oak woodland where Burbage Brook tumbles over moss-covered boulders, with the heather just hitting full purple on the moor edge above. Start from the Longshaw visitor centre, let everyone lose an hour boulder-hopping in the gorge, then loop back over Bolehill's abandoned millstones for cake at the café.
